چکیده

A finite element thermal analysis is performed for the various configurations of the ATLAS barrel SCT module. The design of the module are based on the recent proposal by RAL to reduce the overall radiation thickness of the module. Its several variations are also evaluated. The main goal of the present calculation is to estimate the safety margin for the thermal runaway. Eight different module geometries as listed in Table 1 are evaluated. Figure 1 shows the mod-Table 1 Module models model description model-RAL Original model given by RAL in mid March, 1997 model-1 BeO picture-frame baseboard model-2 model-1 but with a longer PG basebaord model-3 model-1 but the baseboard is all made of PG model-4 model-3 with no thermal connection on the other bridge side model-5 model-3 added by BeO stiffeners on both sides of PG tongues. model-6 suggested by Y. Construction and performance of the ATLAS silicon microstrip barrel modules

The ATLAS Semiconductor Tracker (SCT) consists of four barrel cylinders and 18 end-cap disks. This paper describes the SCT modules of the barrel region, of which more than 2000 are about to be constructed. The module design is fixed. Its design concept is given together with the electrical, thermal and mechanical specifications. The preseries production of the barrel modules is underway using m...

Results of early phase of series production of ATLAS SCT barrel hybrids and modules

A status of early series production of the barrel hybrids and modules of the ATLAS Semiconductor Tracker (SCT) is reported. 120 hybrids (with ASIC’s) and 98 modules were fabricated in Japan by the mid. August 2002 and gone through extensive quality assurance tests. Defective channels were found much less than 1% in hybrids and still less than 1% in modules. No increase of defective channels was...

Design and development of a work robot to place ATLAS SCT modules onto barrel cylinders

More than 2000 silicon modules need to be placed and fastened on the ATLAS SCT barrel tracker. A semi-automatic pick-and-place work robot was designed and developed to cope with the module placement for the SCT barrel assembly. We found that this robot could place modules to a mechanical precision of better than 25 mm. r 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. PACS: 29.40.Gx; 29.40.Wk; 29.90.+r

Beamtest of Non-irradiated and Irradiated ATLAS SCT Microstrip Modules at KEK

-Non-irradiated and irradiated ATLAS SCT barrel and endcap modules have been beamtested with 4 GeV/c pions. Pulse shapes confirmed the peaking time of the amplifier to be 22 ns with slight deterioration in the irradiated modules. Median charges saturated around 3.8 fC both in the non-irradiated and irradiated modules. Signal/Noise ratios, using the noise estimates from the in-situ calibration, ...

Construction of the ATLAS semi-conductor tracker (SCT) barrel modules in Japan

We have developed a semi-automated assembly system and constructed 124 silicon microstrip modules so far for the ATLAS SCT barrel. This article describes the assembly procedure, evaluations of precisions and the module survey results. A precision of B2 mm is achievable with this assembly system. r 2003 Elsevier B.V.
